MOHD Adi Sya’rani Roslan put on an impressive showing to win gold for Brunei in the changquan event at the 6th World Traditional Wushu Championships in Chizhou, Anhui Province, China, yesterday.
It was a good day for Brunei’s exponents with Mohd Adi also winning silver in the gunshu competition.
Teammates Mohd Shafiee Shayferan Roslan and Kong Yew Pin won silver medals of their own in gunshu and taijiquan respectively.
Compatriots Basma Lachkar, Hosea Wong Zheng Yu, Koh Lee Boey, Koh Yun C and Woo Chung Heng all won bronze for Brunei.
National wushu coach Li Hui was impressed with the performances of his charges.
“This is the first time our new athletes are competing in a big competition (world level). I am very happy with their performance and results,” he said.
“This makes me very confident for the preparation of the 2019 SEA Games that will be held in Brunei,” he added.
